Advice I’d Give My Younger Self

Advice from an older to younger me

I’m a believer that what you go through in life happens for a reason. I’m meant to learn from my experiences and grow stronger as a person when disappointments occur.

ADVICE I’D GIVE MY YOUNGER SELF

So it seems ridiculous to give advice to a younger me. But if I had a “do-over” I’d tell myself:

“…Be true to myself and follow your dreams…follow what’s in your heart.”
  • Have more confidence in my abilities and to major in computer science or graphic design
  • Don’t worry about being so practical and different
  • Be true to myself and follow your dreams. Don’t follow what you think your parents want you to be
  • Follow what’s in your heart because it’s your life and you’re in full control of your life

Instead I chose a school and majored in biology so I could hang out with my friends from high school. I was still trying to find myself and wanted to be different from my siblings who both majored in computer science. In the end, I took a long, winded path and had to teach myself everything I know.

Eventually I believe I’m where I’m supposed to be in my life although it took me longer to get where I’m at. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Life is a journey, not a destination.”
