I was talking to my mom early this morning. It was nice talking to her about anything and everything. We had a good chat and she shared with me her secrets of success:
- Be prayerful
- Hard work
If you are prayerful and talk to God like a friend God will always want what’s best for you and will look out for you. Even if what has happened to you doesn’t make sense and is devastating you just got to have faith that something better will come along.
It made me think of a priest’s sermon on how everything is in God’s plan. So when bad things happen I just trust in God that I’m supposed to learn something from it (like changing my lifestyle so I can eat healthier, spend less, or focus on important things like family).
Because I trust in God I try not to worry. For me, I find that worrying is a useless emotion because nothing comes from worrying. Instead of worrying I focus on stuff that I can achieve and have control over. The only thing I can control is myself so I choose not to worry.
I believe that luck is tied to prayers. It’s pretty much a miracle for a person to be at the right place and time for a once-in-a-lifetime event to occur.
This is one thing I think we have direct control over. Only you can motivate yourself to do the amazing things you are destined to become. Of course that can’t happen without putting some “elbow grease” in there and getting your hands dirty by working hard.
Anyway that’s what my mom told me and I believe her. She has lived for 73 years and experienced many hardships and successes in her life. And from what I’ve seen with my parents’ life, their main success is from being prayerful because when you are prayerful everything falls into place. They’ve had many situations that I can only attribute it to prayers. God always seems to provide and give them just enough especially when they need it most.
I don’t pray or go to mass every day like my parents do but I feel in my heart that God is watching out for them and watching out for all of us (including you). We only need to talk to God and go from there. So what are you waiting for? Just pray. 🙂
P.S. I normally don’t write about my faith. Hearing my mom’s words of wisdom motivated me to share her secrets of success with you.
